UNCOMFORTABLE

POSTURE PROJECT

2014-2016

Uncomfortable Posture Project is questioning about the frames around us e.g. habitual behaviours, the judging-perceiving paradigm and spatial-temporal frame on various displays. The relationships between image and choreography are reviewed through the bodies’ spectrum refracted by the frame.
Nothing is immovable. In other words, everything can be the subject on the move, which is constantly related to others. This project focuses on wriggles resulting from the sense of distance.
So every moment could be the material for other movements. Paused and captured postures such as very typical and habitual gestures in uncomfortable situations becomes materials for the next movement.
Varying from drawings to film, this project looks forward to the possibilities of choreography.

In Korean films of the 1950s, there is a weird link between the level of the camera and the gesture of the actor/actress. It seems like a clash between the sedentary culture/lifestyle of Korea and the inflow of the American film industry.
